Ice Skating

Laís wanted to experience ice skating while in the United States so we took her to the nearby ice skating facility a couple Saturdays ago. I hung out with the babies and took pictures while Ben taught Laís how to skate.

Here are some pictures of today's 9 month spur-of-the-moment photo shoot. (Getting three to smile at the same time AND stay still can be difficult!)

Gotta love the power of Peter the Rabbit and Quackers! Success - three smiles! (Yes, Isla is smiling behind those hands...she always smiles with her hands in front of her mouth.)

Story-time at the Library

Our first trip to the library was quite an exciting adventure. The babies enjoyed the stories and Laís and I couldn't stop laughing at some of the ridiculous books (Cock-a-doodle-moo). Here are some pictures of the special occasion.

Can't wait for our books:

First Trip to McDonalds

Laís and I headed out for a walk and decided we'd go all the way to McDonalds for some ice cream. The weather was beautiful, the strollers were ready and the kids were protected by sunscreen and hats! Here are some pictures of our 3.7 mile round-trip walk:

We have a crawler! Wait, maybe two!

Up on the hands...up on the knees...rocking...rocking...

Uh, how did you get here when I left you over there!?!

Solomon and Isla have decided to spend a lot of time on their hands and knees lately. Solomon is crawling everywhere and Isla likes to rock back and forth and then crash on her belly. This makes things most difficult when we "run" upstairs to put one baby down for a nap and come back to find that one of the other babies has moved a good 4-5 feet from where we left them. Hmm, how did you get there so fast?! That's where our new "play den" has already come in super handy. Here's a picture of our "baby jail".

Solomon crawled for the first time on Ben's birthday (3/27). I put his bottle out of his reach about 2 feet away on the floor since he wasn't interested in it. About 5 minutes later he decided it looked pretty good and he rolled over onto his belly and used his hands and knees to move toward it. He grabbed his bottle and then ate the whole thing (with my help)!! It was a fun day for all of us! He now can get into the sitting position after crawling too. WOW!

Isla is next in line. She crawled once last week but didn't move much. I think she might be a couple days away from really taking off. Isla does enjoy spending most of her time on her belly now and she's even started to sleep on her belly (she flips over on her own - we don't put her to bed on her belly). So, that's two out of three that are now belly sleepers (Solomon too). I doubt Simon will ever sleep on his belly. He still enjoys putting his arms above his head when he's sleeping.

Simon is getting better at sitting up on his own but he pretty much lacks motivation for trying to crawl. I'm sure that will change when he sees his other two siblings crawling all over the place. Simon's already getting annoyed at Solomon. Solomon just crawls right over him. He used to think that was funny but not anymore!

First Haircut

Solomon needed a haircut before Easter Sunday. His newborn hair was a bit longer than the rest of his hair so I pulled out the scissors and trimmed it. I thought the haircut would be difficult but it turned out to be a great moment for all of us - entertaining for him (he loved the water bottle) and surprising to all of us that he was so calm. Hooray!

We've spotted another tooth!

It's official - three new baby teeth in the Ellingson household. Solomon got his first two teeth a couple weeks ago and now Simon has sprouted a little tooth on his bottom right. If you squint really hard and jump on one foot you can see his tooth in this picture. :)

If Simon could talk, he'd say, "I'm a big boy!"

First Day with Shoes

It was a beautiful day outside but a tad bit chilly for our walk. To keep the babies warm we added a couple "layers". We bundled them up in hoodies and put shoes on them for the first time! Here they are all bundled up:

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter!!

Today was a very special day for us. We got to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ! He LIVES!! AND we got to attend church for the first time since the babies were born! Hooray!! (Our doctor asked us to stay away from public places until RSV and Flu season were over but we made an exception for Easter.)

Here is our first Easter family photo:

THE HUNT

We also had to continue the family Easter egg hunt tradition. This year the babies and I planned it out and hid all of the candy for Lais and Ben to find. Here are some pictures of the grand scavenger hunt.

Ready to hunt:

Hooray! We found everything:
